HIGHLIGHTS:

• Hike along the Samaria Gorge trail surrounded by unique landscapes
• Meet the local Cretan goats known as Kri Kri
• Pass through the 350 m high rock walls called the Iron Gates
• Take a refreshing swim in the Libyan Sea at Ayia Roumeli

One of our favourite quiet corners of the south coast. We set off at midday over the Rethymno hills, then take a boat in to relax under the palm trees where the river meets the sea, before stopping in the little village of Plakias on the way home. Green, wild and a little adventurous.

 Usually runs Mondays and Wednesdays

 Starts at midday (pickup around 12:00, back around 20:00)

 Guided in English and German

 Small groups, with pickup and drop off next to your hotel

 Children 5 to 12 pay half price, and infants under 4 travel free.

Not included, paid at the port: the boat cruise ticket, 14 € per person, children under 12 pay 7 €

Know before you go

• The high temperature requires you to bring sun protection.
• If it is too windy, you might be asked to walk to the beach and not use the boat.
• On the way back we stop in the village of Plakias for food and drinks.
